BERGENFIELD, N.J. — Brian Juarbe of Bergenfield knows a thing or two about balance.
Some days, he's pumping iron at his Hackensack gym. Others, he's feeding both himself and his hungry 19,800 followers on Instagram as @MYINNERFATKIDISOUT .
Juarbe considers himself lucky that his passions are equal parts exercising and eating. But these days, keeping up with his social media page makes staying in shape rather difficult.
"It's just something I enjoy doing," said Juarbe, 40, of finding the best eats in New Jersey and NYC.
Juarbe launched the page a year ago in addition to his personal account, just to document his favorite eateries.
After two of his "Inner Fat Kid" pictures went viral, people began hitting the "follow" button by the thousands.
Juarbe has become among the first to know about new restaurant openings, as many owners reach out to him for a shout out on his account, and he spends little to nothing on food, as everyone is happy to feed him.
"I want to make it about the food," the single dad said. "I can't eat it alone so my son, who's 15, comes with me and helps sometimes. He's my partner in crime."
Juarbe considers most of what he eats to be food porn, but aesthetics isn't the only requirement to make it on the 'gram: "It just has to be unique and taste good."
His favorite hot spots in Bergen and Passaic counties include Glaze Donuts, Marc's Cheesecake, Carlo's Bakery, Steve's Burgers, Callahan's, Brownstone Pancake Factory, Assalt and Buttery, Paris Baguette and many more.
Regardless of how many followers he has, Juarbe plans on posting pictures of his food. And then working it off in the gym.
