The county sports a variety of snow-removal options if you managed to plan ahead, but many services across the county were booked solid by Monday, in advance of the forecast snowstorm.

One exception is Danmar Construction and Landscape Design in Paramus, which is very busy but still willing to put people on its waiting list.

"If folks can wait, we can probably help," said Danmar owner Dan Hernandez. "We just don't want to make any promises that we can't keep."

They specialize in commercial snow removal – post offices, retailers and even a local museum – but they do residential work too.

A lot of these calls come from adult children, calling to get assistance for parents who don't need immediate service, he said.

"That's pretty ideal for us."

Hernandez said they generally work within a 12-mile radius, from East Rutherford to Mahwah, "but we'll travel anywhere, for emergency work."

Last year, they came to ShopRite of Kearny's rescue, after Winter Storm Jonas dumped 27 inches and its snow-removal service was a no-show.

Hernandez founded the company in 2011. He started with home-building and expanded to commercial and residential landscape design.

Al D Landscaping and Tree Service in Fairview has been around a little longer than Danmar.

Owner Al Demuro's grandparents founded the business in 1894 as a florist and greenhouse — that's 122 years ago.

"The scope of the work has changed dramatically," Demuro said.

Their snow removal service focuses exclusively on commercial customers. Demuro said they have a radius of a few towns outward.

He also has a little garden center that sells seasonal items like firewood and Christmas trees – and salt and shovels, if you're still not fully equipped.

"I'm third-generation of the business," Demuro said, and his kids are in on the biz too, continuing the long family tradition.
