TOTOWA – During Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the staff of Premier Dental Care in Totowa, many of whom have been touched by the disease, wanted to do its part to raise money and awareness.
What started out as a small initiative in the dental office, turned into a community-wide event.
“It was nice to see the community come together, and ask, ‘What could I do to help?’” said Bruna Defeo-Poecker, who organized the first annual “Premier Dental Care Rockin’ The Pink Breast Cancer Walk.”
The Oct. 2 event at the Totowa Police Athletic League drew about 100 people, with many local businesses donating to the cause.
In all, the event raised about $3,000 for the Susan G. Komen breast cancer organization , Defeo-Poecker said.
