Seats Available For Paterson Historic Awards

PATERSON, N.J. -- January 11 is the 261st birthday of Paterson visionary Alexander Hamilton, and the City of Paterson Historic Preservation Commission wants you to mark the day by honoring historic preservation.

Each year, the commission honors individuals who have promoted Paterson's heritage in significant ways.

The commission will celebrate Hamilton’s birthday and present awards in the Brownstone, 351 West Broadway, beginning at 6:30 p.m.

Awards will be presented to institutions and individuals in three areas:

  • Outstanding Historic Rehabilitation or Restoration
  • Outstanding Public Project in Historic Restoration or Rehabilitation
  • Outstanding Historic Preservation Planning Project Good Graces Award

Recipients of the 2015 Good Graces Award include George McLoof for his exemplary career of over 20 years in preserving and sustaining industrial sites in the Great Falls Historic District; to the late Henry A. Williams III for his dedication in honoring and promoting Paterson and its history; and to Lawrence “Pat” Kramer for his lifetime achievement in public service, especially preservation of the Great Falls Historic District and establishment of the Great Falls National Historical Park.

The leadership of Paramount Assets and David Tasci will both be honored with the “Stewardship Award for a Paterson Historic Commercial Building.” The Alpert Group will be honored with the “Stewardship Award for a Paterson Historic Industrial Building” for their preservation of the Boris Kroll Mills.

The City of Paterson will be recognized for rehabilitation of Mary Ellen Kramer Park with the “Stewardship Award for Outstanding Public Project in Historic Restoration/Rehabilitation.” The Commission will also honor Hunter Research Inc. for their Intensive-Level Architectural Survey of the South Dublin Neighborhood with the “Stewardship Award for Outstanding Historic Preservation Planning Project.”

The awards dinner is open to the public. Tickets are $65 for a buffet dinner and dessert. Profits will be dedicated to the Historic Markers Fund.
