On Friday night an authentic Saint Patrick's Day celebration was held at Rutherford's Woman's Club in hopes to raise funds for the Rutherford Food Pantry.

Attendees were treated to corned beef sandwiches, Irish sausage, chips and music from The Captain and O'Neill, a popular Irish music band.

Through word of mouth, the event held at the Woman's Club of Rutherford sold out quickly. Event organizers plan to hold the event annually but are unsure if they'll expand to a larger venue.

"The woman's club has an intimate feel but it holds about 120 occupants," Carol Gilhawley said.

Gilhawley was one of many organizers of the event. Although the celebration was held at the clubhouse of Rutherford's Woman's Club, the event was put together by independent organizers.

With Saint Patrick's Day proper coming up in a few weeks, The Woman's Club of Rutherford may have their own event on the actual day of.
