The Passaic County Office of Solid Waste & Recycling Programs has Clean Communities mini-grant funding for nonprofits in the county which help keep the county clean and litter-free.

Cleanup areas can be parks, streams or neighborhoods which have become unsightly or unsanitary due to an abundance of litter, graffiti, storm debris et cetera. The money is to be used for expenses related to cleanups projects, including bags, gloves, tools and t-shirts.

In the past, grant recipients have included church groups, sororities and fraternities, and Boy Scouts.

The grants are for future cleanup projects only: groups need to apply for and get grant money in advance. Part of the application process includes taking "before" pictures. Participants must also be at least 14, and nonprofits must have liability insurance.
