Much of the film, which debuted in late December and should open in the area by the end of January, was shot in town, as well as other parts of New York State.
The movie stars Adam Driver as a bus driver with the name of Paterson who adheres to a simple routine: he drives his daily route, observing the city as it drifts across his windshield and overhearing fragments of conversations.
According to Producer Joshua Astrachan, locals should recognize Paterson most clearly out of the windows of the bus, at, of course, at the Great Falls and at the NJ Transit bus depot on Market Street.
While no special premiere is planned in Paterson, there had been a screening at the William Carlos Williams Center in Rutherford in December. Said Astrachan: "We were very glad to have at least something of a New Jersey homecoming there."
