The Scoop: This family-owned business puts a lot of emphasis on the best ingredients. According to Robert Sigona, one of the four family members operating Gelotti Inc., the business buys the best dairy in the Northeast and sources the best of the best ingredients from around the world.

"Flavor is important to our family, as we're all foodies in one way or another, which in turn helps us make delicious products," he said.

Gelotti doesn't use artificial vanilla because of the Madagascar vanilla bean crisis and the correlating tremendous price increases, he added. "We only use Madagascar vanilla bourbon; we get our pistachios from the volcanic Etna region of Sicily, our hazelnuts are from Piedmont, and so fourth.

"Our family and staff must all agree that the flavor is exceptional for us to start selling it, and after 35 years, our processes have only improved in technique and taste."

The shop produces hundreds of gallons daily in small batches -- with love --and offers customization in a variety of ways. There's also plenty of gluten-free, vegan, sugar-free, and fat-free items so everyone can be happy.
