Simerly, of San Jose, California, will be joining in time to celebrate the synagogue’s 60th anniversary.

Born and raised in Haifa, Israel, Simerly grew up as in a secular-Zionistic environment until moving to the United States in 1995.

She rediscovered her Jewish roots and became musically active in several organizations in the South Bay area.

“We are thrilled to welcome Rabbi Simerly as our new spiritual leader and to start the next chapter in Temple Beth Tikvah’s 60-year story,” Temple President Janice D. Paul said.

“We believe Rabbi Simerly will bring to our congregation not only a wealth of knowledge and a deep love for Judaism, the Jewish people and Israel, her country of birth," Paul said, "but also a genuineness and warmth that will be most welcomed.”
