Whether he's on the job as an e-commerce business analyst at the Toys R Us corporate headquarters in Wayne, meeting with other members of the North Jersey Chamber of Commerce or administering township Facebook pages, Lang is constantly making connections and bringing people together.

Lang's family moved to New Jersey from New York City when he was a year old. He lived in Fair Lawn and Totowa before moving his family to Wayne in 2008 for the schools.

"I love the camaraderie we have in Wayne," he said.

"With more than 50,000 people in town, we have many different sections and neighborhoods -- each with its own concerns," Lang said. "But we band together in times of need."

When needs arise, Lang is often in the middle of the mix. He's a board member of Temple Beth Tikvah, the Passaic County liaison for the Bergen-based Neighbors-Helping-Neighbors job support group and a member of Wayne's Volunteer Organization Active in Disaster (VOAC), which mobilizes during disasters such as Hurricane Sandy.

Lang is also involved with Wayne Interfaith Network (WIN) and hopes to become a member of the Passaic County Workforce Investment Board this fall.

The biggest challenges for his community, Lang said, include "dealing with excessive traffic, which will be made worse by proposed Avalon Bay apartment complex.

"We have many dormant companies/spaces that are affecting our tax base -- companies like Toshiba, Bayer and GAF have moved out," he said.

"Wayne desperately needs a full-day kindergarten program to entice people to move here," Lang added.
