Virna Yepes “had an upset stomach for a few days and we thought it was nothing more than a bad case of indigestion. To our shock and disbelief we were given a diagnosis that had not entered our minds. The doctors discovered an inoperable tumor blocking the colon,” her husband Alex wrote on a GoFundMe page created to raise money for Virna’s care.
Nearly $6,500 had been raised by Friday evening.
Virna – who has stage 4B colon cancer -- began “an arduous and aggressive form of chemotherapy” this week, the page states.
“We are not facing this disease alone, or with fear, or with doubt, or with anguish, or with depression, or anything that would hinder recovery,” Alex, who has been married to Virna for 17 years, wrote on the page.
