Hipatia Lopez, who grew up in Garfield and attended William Paterson University in Wayne, was selected as one of five Latino entrepreneurs to launch their products on national television as part of HSN’s Project American Dreams initiative.
Lopez invented the Empanada Fork, which she describes as “basically a pastry press” that “is used to make fork like impressions on dough to seal it closed.” But it comes in handy for making more than just empanadas, she said. It can also be used to make treats like calzones and apple turnovers.
Lopez and her fellow inventors will launch their products on HSN, the network formerly known as the Home Shopping Network, during a special edition of The Monday Night Show with Adam Freeman on Monday, March 13, 2017 at 6 p.m.
