The "Warriors of Wayne" event is part of Harris LaPuma's Bar Mitzvah community service project and will benefit The Jake Rudd Foundation.

"Jake has a long road ahead of him," LaPuma said. "His treatment process will consist of multiple weeks of chemotherapy along with surgery to remove part of the femur bone. His mom left her job to take care of him. I am hoping to rally the community and friends to help this family in their time of need."

In addition to the 5K, there will be raffles, food and more, according to LaPuma, who hopes to have more than 100 attendees.

LaPuma also will be accepting sponsorships.

"Anyone who provides a $150 sponsorship fee will be offered the opportunity to have their company logo or name placed on the back of the team T-shirts," he said.
