Wayne Man Killed In House Fire Was Pilot Who ‘Loved To Laugh’

WAYNE, N.J. – The 73-year-old Wayne resident who died in a fast-moving house fire Sunday enjoyed motorcycles, boats, fishing, skiing, music and flying his Cessna plane.

He also liked telling a good story.

Dennis Bennett “was one of those guys who could talk intelligently about any subject. He had a welcoming demeanor and loved to laugh,” Morris County Administrator John Bonanni said in an article on DailyRecord.com.

Bennett was married to Theresa Davis, the former director of Morris County’s Division of Aging, Disabilities, and Veterans, and was often at his wife’s side as she organized events for senior citizens, the article says.

Bennett served in the United States Army in the early 1960’s and was stationed in Germany. He worked for Toyota of Morristown before retiring in 2007.
