Paterson Soldier Killed In Training Exercise At Kentucky Base

PATERSON, N.J. -- A 22-year-old soldier from Paterson died after being shot during a training exercise earlier this week, according to a report on nj.com.

Kevin J. Rodriguez, a member of 101st Airborne Division, was taken to the Blanchfield Army Community Hospital at Fort Campbell, Ky., where he was pronounced dead after the Tuesday shooting, the story said.

According to the story, Rodriguez' death was viewed as accidental, but still was being investigated.

Calling hours for the decorated soldier are for 2-6 p.m. Sunday at the Martinez Funeral home, 747 Market St., Paterson. Services are planned for 9 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.
