Born in Newark, Jewell lived in Clifton before moving to Garfield 32 years ago. She was a home health aide before she retired.
She was a parishioner of Our Lady of Mount Virgin Church in Garfield and an active member of the Rosary Society.
Jewell is survived by her husband of 53 years, Alan; sons Alan and Kevin; grandchildren Jessica and Kimberly; and brother Robert John Gassert.
Visitation will be from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Thursday, March 9, at the Aloia Funeral Home, 180 Harrison Ave., in Garfield, with an 8:30 chapel service. A graveside service will be held on Friday, gathering at the funeral home at 8:30 a.m. and leaving at 9:15, then to Hollywood Memorial Park, in Union.
