Vivian Szczepanczyk, 92, Former Paterson Resident

SADDLE BROOK, N.J. -- Vivian Szczepanczyk, of Saddle Brook, died on Thursday, Jan. 19. She was 92.

Born and raised in Rome, Szczepanczyk immigrated to the U.S. in 1951, settling in Paterson before moving to Saddle Brook. She was a parishioner of St. Philip the Apostle Church in Saddle Brook and a former parishioner of St. Anthony Roman Catholic Church in Paterson.

She was a member of Gold Star Mothers, an organization for mothers who lost a child in service of the U.S. Armed Forces. "An accomplished gardener, she was known for her beautiful and immaculate yard," information from the funeral home noted.

Before she retired, she was a seamstress for many years.

Szczepanczyk is survived by her children, Christina Szczepanczyk, and Irena Adams and her husband Jim, and her grandchildren, Nicole and Lauren Adams. She was predeceased by her husband, Ted Szczepanczyk; son George Szczepanczyk; and siblings Roberto and Angelo Pianelli.

Visitation will be from 2-6 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 22, at Vander Plaat-Caggiano Funeral Home, 13-31 Saddle River Rd., in Fair Lawn. The funeral mass will be at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, at St. Philip the Apostle Church, 488 Saddle River Rd., in Saddle Brook. Interment will follow, at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, in Totowa.
