“We are happy to partner with Rebuilding Together Bergen County to renovate the home of one of our local servicemen, Alex Mello,” said Emerson Police Chief Donald Rossi, who chairs the foundation.
This is the fourth time since 2012 that the group has supported Rebuilding Together Bergen County in repairing a veteran’s home.
Accepting the check at her group’s Glen Rock office, RTBC Executive Director Gretchen Viggiano noted that Mello, who served four years in the USAF, “takes very good care of his home. But his roof actively leaks and needs to be replaced before it causes greater problems.”
BCPCA President Joseph Rutigliano (the Wood-Ridge police chief) and 1st Vice-President Frank Regino (the Westwood police chief) joined Rossi and Foundation Executive Director Trudi Dial for the check presentation to staff and board members at Rebuilding Together Bergen County.
Founded in 1998, Rebuilding Together Bergen County has provided assistance to more than 400 homeowners in 45 towns.
Its core home-repair work focuses on health and safety, energy efficiency, and accessibility for seniors, the disabled, veterans, and families with children. In addition, Rebuilding Together renovates community centers and non-profit facilities that serve similar populations.
