Clifton Police: Loaded Gun, Drugs Found In Traffic Stop

CLIFTON, N.J. -- One occupant had a loaded handgun and two others drugs and paraphernalia, said Clifton police who stopped their car.

Officer Robert Marks and Timothy Taffin stopped the car Sunday night on Lakeview Avenue near East 9th Street, Lt. Robert Bracken said Tuesday morning.

They arrested the driver, 25-year-old Omar Younes of Carlstadt and Salvatore Veccia, 30, of Wallington -- both for drug and paraphernalia possession, Bracken said. Veccia was also wanted on a warrant from another jurisdiction, he said.

A second passenger, 32-year-old Jonathan Cruz of Passaic, was charged with having a loaded 9mm handgun in his waistband, along with the same drug offenses, Bracken said.

Cruz was ordered held on $2,500 bail in the Passaic County Jail. The otehr two were released on court summonses.
