Detectives who investigated after receiving a complaint from the company arrested Edwin Duran, 30, of Haledon, Lt. George Guzman said Tuesday.

Duran was supposed to be delivering the merchandise to warehouses but took 50 assorted pieces, Guzman said.

Detective Sgt. George Kelly and Detective Tim Lindberg recovered the items and returned them to Chanel after arresting Duran.

Duran was released pending a court hearing on theft and fencing charges.

“It’s not every day you make a solid arrest such as this one, recover the stolen merchandise and return it to its rightful owner,” said Lt. Angelo J. Daniele, the department's officer in charge.
