WAYNE, N.J. -- It’s that time of year again: Wayne police are launching their 8th annual "Toys for Tots" collection drive.

PBA Local #136, department U.S. Marine veterans and their colleagues are hoping to build upon last year's hugely successful drive "and make more children’s dreams come true," Capt. Laurence W. Martin said.

The mission of the U. S. Marine Corps Reserve “Toys for Tots” Program is to collect and distribute new, unwrapped toys as Christmas presents for less fortunate children.

The drive officially begins Nov. 27 and continues through Dec. 12.

Although toys can be donated for children of any age, there's a special need for boys and girls ages 3 through 8.

Collection boxes will be found at:

  • Wayne Police headquarters lobby (Municipal Complex 475 Valley Road Wayne NJ)
  • Wayne Public Library (Municipal Complex 475 Valley Road Wayne NJ)
  • Indian Motorcycles of Wayne (665 Route 23 South (Service Road), Wayne, NJ)

Indian Motorcycles will also promote the program and host its second annual photo shoot with Santa Claus on Nov. 25 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

PBA Local 136 will host a "Stuff the Truck" event in the front parking lot of the municipal building on Dec. 9 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Officers will stuff a military style five-ton truck with new, unwrapped toys for the program.
