PASSAIC COUNTY, N.J. – A New York man was killed early Tuesday when struck by two vehicles on Route 80, according to NJ.com.

According to state police, 58-year old Naishadh Patel from Franklin County, N.Y., died while attempting to cross Route 80, NJ.com said.

Patel was hit around 12:15 a.m. after getting out of a Mercedes that was pulled over on Route 80 East, reported NJ.com.

Police are trying to figure out why Patel attempted to cross the highway, NJ.com noted.
