Passaic County Authorities Bust Teen 'Revenge Porn' Ring

PASSAIC COUNTY, N.J. – They weren’t your usual providers of kiddie porn: Six people accused of posting nude photos of 13- and 15-year-old Passaic County youngsters are kids themselves, authorities said.

Three underage “hosts” -- a 14- year old boy and two 15-year-old girls -- created social media accounts seeking nude photographs of other “Purge” users, authorities said.

Three underage “hosts” -- a 14- year old boy and two 15-year-old girls -- created social media accounts seeking nude photographs of other underage "Purge" users, authorities said.

Three boys – ages 14 and 15 --  “provided nude photographs of other juvenile individuals who had not consented to their images being utilized on the social media accounts,” they said.

The viral victimization trend, which began nearly three years ago, takes its name from the 2013 movie “Purge 2 Anarchy" -- in which, for one night each year, all crime is legal.

"Purge" purveyors encourage followers to expose anything or say anything for 12 to 24 hours. These are often naked photos of teens who are unaware that they're being shared..

Several agencies teamed up for the Passaic County case: The prosecutor’s and sheriff’s offices and Paterson and North Haledon police.

The sheriff’s Internet Crimes Against Children Unit contacted the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children and the social media accounts were taken down.

Delinquency complaints were signed against the juveniles charging them with possession and distribution of child pornography, cyber harassment and invasion of privacy, among other offenses
