Robert Somers, 45, of Little Falls told a U.S. District Corut judge that he handed the Lafayette Avenue bank teller a note on Feb. 17, 2016 that said: “This is a holdup” and demanded cash.

After getting some, he demanded more – then fled with the entire haul, Acting U.S. Attorney William E. Fitzpatrick said.

He fled in a car identified by federal authorities as Alehandro L. Ortiz of East Stroudsburg, PA.

Somers’s sentencing was set for Sept. 5.

Fitzpatrick credited special agents of the FBI, as well as Hawthorne and Pennsylvania State police and the Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office.

Assistant U.S. Attorneys Jihee G. Suh and Karen D. Stringer of Fitzpatrick’s Criminal Division in Newark are handling the case.
