Passaic Sheriff's Detectives Charge Paterson Man With Kid Porn Trafficking

PATERSON, N.J. -- A Paterson machine operator first tried hiding in his kitchen and then struggled with Internet crime investigators who arrested him early Monday on child porn trafficking charges, Passaic County Sheriff Richard H. Berdnik said a short time later.

Carlos Macedo-Pascual, 33, eventually was handcuffed in his East 27th Street apartment just after 6 a.m. and brought to city police headquarters to await bail before eventually being taken to the Passaic County Jail, Berdnik said.

The sheriff's detectives had received a tip from the National Center of Missing and Exploited Children that an IP address of someone uploading kiddie porn came back to Macedo-Pascual's home, Berdnik said.

Investigators recovered 50 or so illegal files, the sheriff said.

Macedo-Pascual also "admitted to having numerous other images of child pornography" on his cellphone, he said.

He was charged with possession and distribution of child pornography, obstruction and resisting arrest by force.
