PATERSON, N.J. -- Minutes after announcing that two men were charged Tuesday in a killing from last summer, Paterson Police Director Jerry Speziale said authorities hours earlier nabbed a man wanted on murder charges from a November shooting.

Domenick Deavereux, 30, was taken into custody around 8:15 a.m. Tuesday in the area of Franklin and Summer streets by detectives from his warrant division, along with U.S. Marshals and state parole officers, Speziale said.

Deavereux, of E. 31st Street, was wanted on murder and weapons charges in the Nov. 18 incident, he said.

Antonio Johnson, 31, was shot in his red Cadillac, which then crashed into a parked car at Godwin Avenue and Rosa Parks Boulevard, Speziale said. Johnson was pronounced dead at St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center, he said.

A second victim of the same shooting -- identified as 26-year-old Otis Johnson -- went directly to the hospital's emergency room.

He survived several gunshot wounds, Speziale said, adding that the Johnsons weren't related.

Earlier Tuesday, Speziale announced a pair of arrests in the July killing of one man and wounding of another.
