Paterson Police Juvenile Division officers began investigating after school administrators "received information from a concerned party who came forward," city Police Director Jerry Speziale told Daily Voice.

"Even though no weapons were located, it appears that [they were] in the early stages of planning these attacks at Eastside High School and the New Roberto Clemente School," Speziale said Wednesday morning. "Both schools are within a few blocks of each other.

"The intended schools were immediately notified as well as the school staff member who was mentioned by name by the juveniles," the director said. "As a side of precaution, extra patrols were provided to the schools.

"The Juvenile Division is presently working with the Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office, the Division of Child Protection and Permanency, and the Paterson Board of Education on this ongoing investigation."

Anyone with any information that could help the investigation is asked to call Detective Quaema McElveen and Detective Charlie Garcia at (973) 321-1126.
