WAYNE, N.J.– A Wayne woman posted $20,000 bail after police charged her with issuing bad checks to township landlords and businesses, authorities said.
Detectives already were investigating Debra Gonzalez, 43, on suspicion of writing a dozen bogus checks worth $52,000, Capt. Laurence Martin said Monday.
Police took Gonzalez into custody after they found her driving with a suspended license in the Wayne Valley High School parking lot with three outstanding warrants, Martin said.
Fairfield police told Wayne Detective Scott Rapport that Gonzalez was being investigated for issuing bogus checks to auto repair shops, according to Martin.
