Detective Walter Richmond was at the Chase Bank ATM on Haledon Avenue when 19-year-old Zameir Reed walked the victim there, Capt. Ammen Matari said.

Reed arranged to meet the victim a day after the theft, then got into her car, pulled the gun on her and forced her to go to the bank, Matari said.

What he didn’t count on, the captain said, was Richmond.

The detective seized the black Phoenx Arms Raven .25-caliber handgun, which was loaded with six rounds, as well as an additional round in the chamber, he said.

The woman was unharmed, Matari said.

A judge, meanwhile, ordered Reed held on $150,000 bail in the Passaic County jail, charged with armed robbery, making terroristic threats, theft and various weapons counts.
