City police seized nearly a pound a half of worth of heroin in 1,171 individually packaged glassine envelopes, along with a 10mm semi-automatic pistol, while arresting three men living in an East 22nd Street apartment, a few doors in off Broadway, last Wednesday, Police Director Jerry Speziale said.

Charged with possession of the heroin -- in bags stamped "Cenizio" in red ink -- as well as the firearm and 14 illegal hollow-nosed bullets were Quinece T. Ervin, 23; ex-con Roger "Eric" McBride Jr., 47; and Terrance L. "T" Macon, 25.

The following day, city police who hit a location on 16th Avenue seized nearly a half-pound of heroin -- individually wrapped in 441 glassine envelopes stamped "Trick or Treat" in purple ink and "Halloween" in red and purple ink -- along with eight bags of powdered cocaine and five jars of marijuana, Speziale said.

They also arrested three men -- two of whom the director said resisted.

Taken into custody were Jairo B. Diaz and Joshua M. Fernandez, both 18, Speziale said, adding that Fernandez also was charged with aggravated assault on a police officer.

Arrested without incident, he said, was Jose Rodriguez, 23.

The trio was carrying a total of $3,840, which was confiscated as drug proceeds, the director said.

Also arrested in the same incident, but on lesser drug possession charges, were Johann Palacio, 27, of Madison and Mark A. Mayo, 29, of Paterson, Speziale said.

Speziale's officers arrested three more men on Monday, while seizing another half-pound or so of heroin -- in 446 envelopes variously stamped "Power" in multi-colored ink, "Dog Food" in blue ink and "Novacane" in red ink -- along with six grams and 12 vials of crack and 38 jars and one bag of marijuana during a bust on Hamilton Avenue.

All three -- Roy "Li'l Bro' Samuels, 27; KI’Maja I. Butler-Soto and Elijah "Scoop" Samuels, both 18 -- were charged with possession with the intent to distribute the drugs.
