Rockland-Bound Train Hits Car In Hackensack

HACKENSACK, N.J. -- No serious injuries were reported Wednesday night after a Rockland-bound NJ Transit train struck a car on the tracks in Hackensack.

The No. 1627 Passaic Valley Line train -- which left Hoboken with 300 customers less than a half-hour earlier -- was due in Spring Valley at 6:14 p.m.

The occupants apparently got out of the car before it was struck around 5:30 p.m. at Railroad Avenue and Beech Street.

The No. 1627 Passaic Valley Line train -- which left Hoboken with 300 customers less than a half-hour earlier -- was due in Spring Valley at 6:14 p.m., NJ Transit's Nancy Snyder said.

It temporarily remained at the site of the crash.
