Beneficiaries of this year's run/walk are Rutherford PBA Local #300 and the Ersalesi Scholarship Fund, created in memory of beloved Rutherford teacher Mrs. Betty Ersalesi and her husband, Henry.

The top three overall male and female runners will receive monetary prizes.

T-Shirts and race packets will be available while supplies last. There will also be a post-race BBQ, a face painter, a balloon artist and a deejay.

The Foot Pursuit was created by Rutherford PBA members Scott Ahearn and Craig Capoano to raise funds for both the the local and a different charity that the union selects each year.

PBA Local # 300 is a non-profit organization that relies on citizens to help fund community activities that have included Little League and Babe-Ruth baseball, Safe-Night Out, a junior police academy, an annual high school senior scholarship, bicycle awareness for children, donations to the NJ Special Olympics Torch Run/Polar Bear Plunge and many other worthy causues.

The Ersalesi Scholarship Fund was created in memory of Elizabeth "Betty" Ersalesi, and her husband, Henry.

Mrs. E, as she was affectionately known, was a lifelong resident of Rutherford and a teacher in the Rutherford School System for 36 years. Mrs. E believed in "teaching kids," not "teaching a curriculum."

She celebrated daily holidays and was known for her love of Disney.

Henry "Buddy" Ersalesi, a Rutherford resident of 42 years, was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, a mechanic, and a businessman.

Both he and his wife believed that a passion for hard work and a desire to grow -- both academically and vocationally -- were necessary to succeed.

The Ersalesi family honors their memory by offering a scholarship to a student who best represents those qualities.
