SADDLE BROOK, N.J. -- A robber held a knife to a Saddle Brook gas station attendant's chest before making off with a little over $500, authorities said.

"Give me all your money," the robber demanded, pressing the knife against the attendant's chest, SBPD Chief Robert Kugler said.

The pump jockey told police he was inside the booth of the Delta station at the corner of Floral Lane and North Midland Avenue when the robber accosted him around 9:30 p.m. last Friday, Police Chief Robert Kugler said.

"Give me all your money," the robber demanded, pressing the knife against the attendant's chest, Kugler said.

He fled with the cash down Floral Lane towards Long Memorial School, the chief said.

The attendant described him as 5-foot-10 to 6-foot-2 and wearing dark clothing and gloves, along with the mask.

"The victim did the right thing when confronted with this life-or-death scenario," Kugler said. "Any resistance or other action, other than immediately handing over the money he had in hand, could've ended in tragedy."

The Bergen County Sheriff's Bureau of Criminal Identification gathered evidence.

Anyone with information that could help the investigation is asked to contact Detective Scott Habermann at SBPD: (201) 843-7000.
