HAWTHORNE, N.J. — Authorities arrested one man and took two juveniles into custody following an armed robbery of a taxi driver in Hawthorne on Tuesday, police said.

Glen Rock and Ridgewood police found the suspects near Lincoln and Diamond Bridge avenues after a taxi driver said he was robbed at gunpoint by three people he picked up from Paterson, Hawthorne Capt. Jeffrey Vanderhook said.

Police found a black BB gun on the suspects and money taken from the taxi driver, the captain said.

Giovanni Cortez, 20, of Waldwick, a 16-year-old Waldwick boy and a 17-year-old Vineland boy were charged with robbery, aggravated assault, criminal mischief and weapons counts.

Cortez was held on $250,000 bail at Passaic County Jail and the boys were held in juvenile detention, Vanderhook said.
