Michelle Epps, 32, of Newark had been "wandering the store, selecting items, concealing them and leaving the store without paying," before the guard grabbed her on Friday, Capt. Lawrence Martin said Monday.

Epps, whom Fair Lawn police charged with shoplifting earlier this month, also had "several personal health items" taken from an unknown Walgreens, Martin said.

She's also facing similar charges in Verona from an arrest in late May, records show.

Given the circumstances, a judge ordered Epps held in the Passaic County Jail pending a detention hearing.
