WAYNE, N.J. — Wayne police arrested a Totowa driver who they say had 120 bags of heroin, Capt. Laurence Martin said.
Jennifer Novak, 38, was charged with possession of heroin and motor vehicle summonses for failing to maintain lanes, Martin said.
Officers stopped Novak around 7:45 p.m. Monday on Route 23 southbound near Meadow Road for swerving into other lanes, the captain said.
Police said Novak was extremely nervous and fumbled for her paperwork. Officers also overheard her make a phone call to someone named Kevin and say, "I am screwed. I am screwed get over here," Martin said.
Police saw drug paraphanelia on the floor of Novak's car and then found 120 bags of heroin, Martin said.
Novak's 2002 Volkswagen Jetta was turned over to the same Kevin she called when he walked over to the scene, the captain said.
She was processed and then released from police headquarters on court summonses, Martin said.
