PASSAIC, N.J. – After serving for months as interim mayor of Passaic, Hector Lora was elected to his first full term as the city’s mayor Tuesday.
Lora became interim mayor in November after the city’s former mayor, Alex Blanco, pleaded guilty in federal court to bribing developers out of more than $100,000 in federal housing funds.
Tuesday, Lora beat out four other candidates, including runner-up Richard Diaz, by earning 5,716 votes.
Lora’s running-mates vying for city council also won. Incumbents Joe Garcia, Terrance Love and Daniel Shwartz were re-elected to at-large council seats.
