Allendale's Comey Sells Connecticut Home At A Loss

Oftentimes a house goes up in value when someone famous lives there. But that wasn't the case with the Greens Farms estate of recently fired FBI Director James Comey formerly of Allendale.

His home at 6 Westway Road in Westport, Conn., purchased by Comey and his wife in 2010 for $3.05 million was sold in January for $2.475 million, which is $575,000 less than they paid for it, according to records with Zillow.com. 

Comey, 56, bought the seven-bedroom house when went to work as general counsel for Bridgewater Associates, the world's largest hedge fund, which is headquartered in Westport. 

They originally put it on the market for $3.395 million in June 2015, according to Zillow.

The Colonial home, which has 16 rooms as well as seven bathrooms and two half-baths, sits on 3.17 gated acres of land and has more than 7,157 square feet of space. It was built in 2005.

It also has a wine cellar, hot tub, tennis court, playground and pool.  

Comey, who was sworn in as the FBI director in September 2013, is living in McLean, Va., according to the Washington Post. 

He was fired Tuesday by President Donald Trump, causing a political firestorm. 

Comey lived in Yonkers until he was a teenager before his family moved to Allendale, N.J., where he graduated High School. He is the grandson of longtime Yonkers police officer - and former Police Commissioner William Comey and served as a U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York before being chosen by then President Barack Obama to head the FBI in 2013 on a 10-year appointment.

Comey also served as a deputy attorney general from December 2003 through August 2005 under President George W. Bush.
