Brandon Hernandez participated with Kristen Gething of Westfield and Christine Torres of North Bergen in the 10-week workshop, held Monday nights at the Morris County Public Safety Training Academy in Parsippany.

It was sponsored by the N.J. Police Community Affairs Officers Association, the Morris County Sherriff’s Office and the Morris County Department of Law and Public Safety.

"Students wouldn’t learn this in a purely academic setting," said Morris County Undersheriff William Schievella, the workshop director. “We focus on how to get the job.

"Students here have the advantage of networking opportunities, attending mini-job fairs, mock crime scenes, canine demonstrations, jail tours, and more, offering participants experiences that go beyond the college experience.”
