Elected Leaders Spark Berkeley Women's Leadership Panel In Woodland Park

WOODLAND PARK, N.J. -- Berkeley College students, local and state politicians, and community members will hear elected women discuss the challenges and triumphs of being in power at the 7th Annual Women's Leadership Panel on March 28 in Woodland Park.

New Jersey Economic Development Authority CEO Melissa Orsen will be the preliminary speaker at the special Women's History Month event.

Panelists will discuss how they define leadership, how they became involved in the public sector, and the challenges and triumphs of being a woman in power.

They will include New Jersey Assemblywomen Marlene Caride, BettyLou DeCroce and Holly Schepisi; Assemblywoman and Majority Conference Leader Shavonda E. Sumte; and Clifton Councilwoman Lauren Murphy.

Women make up just 24 percent of all state legislators nationwide, according to the National Conference of State Legislators.

The event runs from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Atrium at Berkeley College, 44 Rifle Camp Road, Woodland Park.
