Three high schools in Passaic County made the Washington Post's list of America’s most challenging.
Wayne Valley High School finished at No. 118 among 160 New Jersey schools that made the national newspaper's list of America's Most Challenging High Schools. Nationwide, it ranked No. 1,979.
Wayne Hills High School finished at No. 121 among New Jersey schools and nationwide at No. 2,010.
Paterson Charter School for Dance and Technology ranked 147 among New Jersey high schools that made the list. Nationwide, it finished at 2,207.
In all, 2,302 high schools across the United States made the cut.
Each score was based on "the number of college-level tests given at a school in the previous calendar year divided by the number of graduates that year," the Post reported. "A ratio of 1.000 means the school had as many tests as graduates."
