WAYNE, N.J. -- The Wayne Board of Education has decided not to implement full-day kindergarten for the 2016-17 school year.

In the November 2015 election, 53 percent of voters initially shot down the full-day proposal 5,048 to 4,455 on the ballot question.

The Board of Education continues to explore the implementation of a Kindergarten Wrap-Around program. This program is designed to complement and extend a student’s overall kindergarten experience in a half-day model.

The wrap around program would provide instruction and and enrichment consistent with the regular kindergarten program. The wrap around program would cost parents $250 a month.
