The area of "severe risk" stretches from eastern Pennsylvania out to Long Island and up through New England, meteorologist Joe Cioffi said.

"I think the main threat time will be after 3 or 4 p.m. for any thunderstorms," Cioffi said. "We saw much of the severe weather yesterday took place after 7 p.m. and lasted almost until midnight.

"There will be some improvement on Monday with slightly less heat and slightly less humidity but temperatures will still make it above 90. We don’t expect to see any thunderstorms on Monday," he said.
