WAYNE, N.J. -- At July's end, Richard's Shoes, a children's shoe shoe in Wayne, will be closing its doors after 44 years in business, The Record reports.
Brothers-in-law Nick Olivia and Bob Gimon opened the store in 1972. The original Richard's Shoes was in Oakland, opened by Olivia's uncle, Richard Cancellieri, according to The Record. That store has been shuttered for 30 years or so.
Independent shoe stores face increasing challenges, both from the vastly increased number of shoe they must be able to stock and the increase in online sales, The Record reports.
For these owners, though, it was just time to retire. Read the full The Record story here.
