The owner of Blue Moon locations is aiming to raise funds for an employee's son battling a rare form of bone cancer.

All locations in New Jersey will donate 20 percent of all checks on Sept. 11 to the Rudd Family of Wayne.

When Wyckoff resident Howie Felixbrod, owner of Blue Moon Mexican Café restaurants in New Jersey and New York, learned former employee Lisa Rudd's son Jake, 13, was in a fight for his life, he and fellow employees jumped right in to assist.

Felixbrod and his employees came up with a plan to help the Rudd family pay for their unforeseen medical expenses.

New Jersey Blue Moon Mexican Café Restaurants will donate 20 percent of all customers' checks on Sunday, Sept. 11, from opening to closing. Funds will be earmarked directly for the Rudd Family.

“Sept. 11th is a significant day for all Americans especially those living in New York and New Jersey where we lost so many of our friends and family," he said "This is a day of service and there is no better way to demonstrate our support and love by helping a young boy within our community assistance while he is in the fight of his life.”

The community is encouraged to help Jake by visiting any Blue Moon Mexican Café location on Sept. 11.

Also taking place on that day is the Born To Run 5K on Sept. 11 in Wayne.

People can also make donations on the family's GoFundMe Page, where Jake's full story is told.

Jake Rudd is a resident of Wayne and being treated at Hackensack University Medical Center.

New Jersey blue moon cafes are located in Englewood, Wyckoff, Norwood and Woodcliff Lakes.
