The Bethwood, 38 Lackawanna Ave., Totowa, (800) 377-8316

Why Go: Family owned and operated for half a century, this classy venue for social events and corporate gatherings does brunch right, say fans. It pays as much attention to service as it does to the food and presentation. There's even free valet parking.

Worth Waking Up For: While the array of top-shelf comestibles is impressive, it is Bethwood’s abundantly and creatively stocked dessert table that draws the biggest raves. Cakes, pies, rainbow-colored macaroons, dainty, flower-bedecked flans -- and, yes, even jello -- tempt those with sweet tooths. Omelettes and waffles are cooked to order and there is a customized coffee bar for caffeine fixes.

When: Sunday, 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Prix Fixe? Yes, $38.95 for adults; $19.95 for kids under 12, those age five and under are free.
