Esther Silvestr, who works two jobs, was rushed to the hospital after experiencing shortness of breath about three months ago, and was told her heart was not working in its proper capacity, her children wrote on a GoFundMe page they created to raise funds for their mother.

Silvestr was eventually told she needed a heart transplant, which “means that she will be out of work for much longer than anyone could have imagined,” the page states.

The page had garnered nearly $40,000 in donations by Tuesday morning.

“Our mother's devotion to helping others knows no bounds, whether it is through volunteering with the Fair Lawn Ambulance Corp., arranging meals for those who are home bound, opening her home to those in need of a place to stay or extending herself financially or physically to help no matter the circumstances,” her children wrote.

Her children hope the funds can assist with her living and medical expenses and “give her the peace of mind during her recovery.”
