Haledon Entrepreneur Has Faith In New Muslim Toy

HALEDON, N.J. -- After seeing other faith based storybook and toy products such as "Mensch on a Bench" for the Jewish faith and "Elf on the Shelf" for Christians, Danny Shakoj, a Circassion Muslim, decided to create something of his own.

The result, which debuted this month, is "Adventures of Imam Adam," a storybook and plush toy that introduces the Five Pillars of Islam to kids ages three and up.

The self-published book -- Shakoj's first -- is something the entrepreneur hopes will teach children -- in an interactive way -- about their faith. The story leads children through Imam Adam's adventures including a pilgrimage to Mecca to perform Hajj.

"Growing up in the U.S. there are no toy products available that focus on helping one learn about the religion and this need still exists today," said Shakoj.

The 'Adventures of Imam Adam' storybook and plush toy is a great way to introduce an Islamic based product to the American market that introduces the Five Pillars of Islam in a fun and engaging way."

The author's goal is to make this a series, with a host of other adventures. Said Shakoj: "Children grow attached to characters and this would be a great way for all children to learn about the faith."

The book is soldo on Amazon for $29.99.
