In a pair of proclamations posted to the county's website Wednesday, the board recognized Patriot Pickle Company of Wayne, N.J., and Deshon Brisbon, a building maintenance worker at Preakness Healthcare Center.

The Patriot Pickle Company, which employs 70 people locally and scores of others in locations in Texas, the Carolinas, New England and elsewhere, was presented the Passaic County Business Appreciation Award.

According to the county's statement, the company was recognized for its "commitment to the County of Passaic through the employment of local residents, the continued reinvestment in their company and their strong leadership."

Brisbon, in a separate proclamation, was honored by the board for being named the Frontline Professional of the Year by Leading Age New Jersey, a nonprofit association of senior care organizations.

Brisbon, who has worked at Preakness since 2003, was recognized for his willingness to consistently go above and beyond while working in the healthcare center's dementia unit.
