PROSPECT PARK, N.J. — Prospect Park firefighters are hoping to spread some holiday cheer with a toy drive.

People can drop off toys at 106 Brown Ave. firehouse Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays now through Dec. 9. Collection hours are 6:30 to 9 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays and 9 a.m. to noon Saturdays.

This is the fourth year for the collection, which usually gathers 75 to 100 toys.

Yeisy Reyes Jr. coordinates the drive.

"It's definitely a good cause to help out other needy families," Reyes told Daily Voice.

The toys go to New Hope Community Ministries, a non-profit serving Prospect Park and Haledon, to distribute to underprivileged children for the holidays.

Any new unwrapped toys are accepted. The department often receives stuffed animals, action figures and clothes, Reyes said. Toys can be for infants through high schoolers.

For more information, call Reyes at (973) 423-4276 or the fire department at (610) 522-1830 .
